How to Get Involved

The work we do is made possible by the support of our volunteers. We have a variety of events throughout the drive that are perfect opportunities for people of all ages to get involved. From sorting through donations to supporting our Fill the Truck event — there’s no shortage of ways to share the warmth. Check out how you can get involved:

Fill the Truck

October 14th, 2021

Donating winter wear at our Fill the Truck event is a great way for members of the community to give back. You can visit us at the West Des Moines Chick-fil-A restaurants (Mills Civic & University Ave) and every donation will receive a free Chick-fil-A menu item. For more information about the Fill the Truck or any of our other key events throughout the drive, visit our events page.

Winter Warmth Drive Sorting Day

Winter Warmth Drive is looking for volunteers to help us sort, count and box winter clothing items for metro kids in need. This is a one-day opportunity with a potential of 6 hours of service that counts for silver cord hours. It will take place at Valley Community Center in West Des Moines on Saturday, October 16th. You can sign up for one 3-hour shift or both 3-hour shifts.

Support Our Cause

Not able to drop off winter wear? You are still able to support our efforts to ensure none of our neighbors go without the necessities to keep them warm this winter. Your gift helps us provide coats, boots, scarves and hats to those who might otherwise go without it. All monetary donations go toward our community schools and partners to cover the cost of running the drive each year. Large or small, all donations are greatly appreciated.
